It is an amateur-radio digital-modes operating app. Feed your radio's receive audio into your phone and it decodes the open digital modes — FT8, FT4, WSPR, JS8Call, PSK31 and RTTY — on a live waterfall. Click to tune, control your rig over CAT, transmit, and log your contacts to ADIF.
Weak-signal FT8, FT4 and WSPR, plus keyboard modes JS8Call, PSK31 and RTTY are first. Image and data modes — SSTV, APRS and AX.25 packet — are planned. Ham Signaling is in active development, so the list grows with each release.
A valid amateur radio license is required to transmit, and you operate within your own privileges. For decoding you just need to get your radio's receive audio into the phone — by an audio cable or acoustically. For one-tap tuning and transmit, connect your rig's CAT control.
The microphone captures your radio's receive audio — the digital-mode tones — so the app can decode them into text and data on your device. The audio is processed on the fly and is not recorded or stored. Without mic access the app cannot decode.
They are stored only on your device. We (Unixeer) never receive them. Nothing about your decodes leaves your phone unless you opt in to upload spots to a community site such as PSK Reporter or WSPRnet.
No — on the air, amateur radio is public. These digital modes are open, published protocols with no encryption, so anyone can receive and decode your callsign and message.
